Getting Started

New to Permitio? Here’s how to submit your first job.

How do I submit my first permit?
Book a 15-minute onboarding call and we'll set up your account, then you can submit a job in under a minute — pick the job type (HVAC, electrical, or plumbing), enter the equipment or scope, and the property address. We take it from there.
What information do I need to file a permit?
At minimum: the job type, the property address, and basic equipment details (make, model, tonnage/amperage/BTU where relevant). If your jurisdiction needs load calculations or energy compliance docs, we'll reach out for anything missing — you don't need to know the rules.
How long does it take to file?
We typically submit within the same business day. Approval time depends on the jurisdiction — some cities issue same-day, others take 2–10 business days. You'll see live status in your dashboard.
Where do I sign up?
Book a demo and we'll activate your account during the call. Your first 3 permits are free.

What we file, where we file it, and what happens next.

Which trades do you cover?
HVAC (mechanical), electrical, and plumbing/gas permits. We handle residential and light commercial work. If you have a project outside these trades, reach out — we may still be able to help.
Which jurisdictions do you file in?
We currently file in thousands of jurisdictions across the US, with the deepest coverage in California and the Bay Area. If your city isn't supported, let us know and we'll usually add it within a week.
Do you pull inspections too?
Yes. Once the permit is issued, we book the inspection based on your availability and send calendar invites and reminders. If the inspector needs additional docs or a re-inspection, we handle that too.
What if a permit gets rejected?
We revise and resubmit at no extra cost. Most rejections come down to a missing form, a load calc, or a jurisdiction-specific checklist item — we'll fix it and refile the same or next business day.
Who is listed as the contractor on the permit?
You are. We file on your behalf using your contractor license, business info, and insurance. We never pull a permit under our own license — the permit belongs to you.

Pricing & Billing

How pricing works and what's included.

How much does Permitio cost?
See the pricing page for current plans. Your first 3 permits are free so you can try it with no commitment. After that, you pay a flat per-permit service fee plus whatever the jurisdiction charges for the permit itself.
Do I pay the city fees through you?
Yes. We pay the jurisdiction directly when we file, then pass the exact city/county fee through to you — no markup. You'll see the breakdown on every invoice.
Is there a contract or monthly minimum?
No. Pay-as-you-go, no minimums, no long-term contract. Cancel anytime.
How do I update payment info or get invoices?
Both are in your dashboard under Billing. If you need a W-9 or a custom invoice format for your accounting team, email us and we'll send it over.

Integrations

Connecting Permitio to your field service software.

Which field service platforms do you integrate with?
ServiceTitan, Jobber, and Housecall Pro. See the integration pages for details on what syncs — jobs, customer info, equipment specs, and permit status back to the job record.
How long does integration setup take?
About 10 minutes. You authorize the connection from your FSM account and we map your job types to permit categories. We do this together on your onboarding call.
Can permit status sync back into my FSM?
Yes. Approved, rejected, inspection-scheduled, and finalized states all push back to the job record as notes or custom fields (depending on platform).

Account & Support

Getting help when you need it.

How do I contact support?
Email ruslan@permitio.ai or use the chat in your dashboard. We respond within one business day — usually much faster during California business hours.
Can I add teammates to my account?
Yes. Invite office staff, dispatchers, or field techs from the Team section in your dashboard. Roles control who can submit, approve, or just view permits.
Is my license and business info secure?
Yes. We store credentials encrypted at rest and only use them to file permits on your behalf. See our privacy policy for details.
How do I cancel?
From Billing in your dashboard, or email us. No cancellation fee. Any permits already in flight are seen through to issuance.
